The night before Semicon West is usually a good barometer for the rest of the show. But tonight's event was ... strange. Low turnout, especially considering this is an up year. Even stranger, no one really seemed to be talking about business. Plenty of time for that later in the week, of course. Still, this gathering felt like survivors emerging from the ruins after an earthquake, picking up the pieces and taking inventory of who's still alive.
