Great creative artists are great in part because they are ruthlessly critical of their own work, always extending their mastery of the craft. They see flaws where the rest of us see genius. Case in point: Sonny Rollins, perhaps the greatest living jazz saxophonist, describes listening to his own music as an "excruciating experience."
