A friend of a friend is currently in the hospital getting a kidney transplant. She's been on the transplant list for a long time, and would still be there if it weren't for the family of a young man who fell off a roof.
Which inspires me to ask you folks to make sure you've filled out organ donor cards and notified your families of your wishes. We all hope to live forever and don't like thinking about this stuff, I know. But if things don't turn out that way, there are plenty of really sick people out there whose lives could be saved by organs you aren't using anymore.
And while I'm thinking about it, you don't even have to die to give blood.
